5 principles to improve your life

Ray Dalio’s book ‘Principles’ will change your life if you action his principled process. It gives you valuable insights into how successful people operate both in their business and personal lives. I have been reflecting on what resonated from Dalio’s book… these are the 5 principles that stay with me every day, applied to both life and work.

Principle 1: Be radically open minded and radically transparent

How I apply this principle:

I really enjoy exploring ideas, and at times this can mean delving into a rabbit hole on a topic I have no prior knowledge on. I am open to new learning, ideas and experiences, inside and out of work. The transparency piece comes from sharing my thoughts and opinions with others. I have tried to further enhance this through the blog.

This principle truly encompasses what it means to have a growth mindset. You understand that your capabilities are not fixed and can grow with learning and experiences. Being radically open-minded means not being concerned about being right, but being concerned about solving the problem, or reaching the truth. It means leading a curiosity driven life.

How it has improved my life:

It has led to stepping outside of my comfort zone more often. I have tried and experienced more things, had conversations with more people, and been exposed to different ways of thinking. All of this has helped to enhance my view of what is possible…
