You often think about other people’s body language, but rarely think about your own. You have two options:

  • Have great body language
  • Put the focus on them

1 Practice being still

Being still makes you harder to read because you are giving nothing away. You can use this to your advantage in:

  • Negotiations
  • Business meetings
  • Social interactions

Being still creates the assumption you are calm under pressure. This stacks the odds in your favour.

2 Know your tells

What do you do when you are:

  • Nervous
  • Stressed
  • Uncomfortable

Notice what you do with your:

  • Hands
  • Feet
  • Voice
  • Posture

Spot your patterns, and then take action against your tells…

3 Consciously be still when you notice your tell showing

Focus on making eye contact. Focus on keeping your hands and feet still. Sit up straight.

Stillness creates the sense of calm. Calmness creates the sense that you are fully present…
